JUNEteenth 2021 – 4th visit in 6 years to George HW Bush Presidential Library and Museum, combined with our very 1st invitation to South Texas College Library and Community Center. Chicago requested a Live presentation at Bronzeville Children’s Museum and the African American Men Of Unity determined – It’s Time, let’s open the doors and get our people back together. You see my friends, these are the ingredients that make up a Road Trip! 2 & a half years establishing The Poetic Storyteller as a Texas based cultural artist to present storytelling, poetry, and language arts workshops, it is indeed time to kick it in the city.

Virtual Programming allow freedom of movement. Our title for content this year is How Many Freedom Songs Must We Sing before Freedom Comes. If you just glance back over the past few years, you’ll get the images of an older time, we’ve endured a struggle like, nearly unseen by living man, yet it seems like it was only a continuation of the same – the same old red lining, the same old Dreams deferred, The same o’’ wait till no’ in- it’ll all be betta- in da morning … But this Time the World was watching, when the sun rose on the faithful day, and the world took to the streets and the streets cried our Black Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter.

And we do, and so does the truth, it matters, the truth counts, and we. Will tell the truth in our stories, and speak truth to power and share truth with the young ones so they are not fighting with broken sticks, but they will be armed with the full might and power of the Right Hand Of Great God Almighty.
